Xiaomi is working on 'Mix Flip', a flip-style foldable phone

After Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, and a few other brands, Xiaomi has been successfully launching its foldable phones (Mix Fold 3) for some time now. Unlike other OEMs, the Chinese brand has been away from launching a flip-style phone (also dubbed as small fold), however, things might change soon.

Xiaomi currently has the sixth-largest share in foldable smartphones in China. Turns out the Chinese giant is working on a flip-style or clamshell-style phone dubbed Xiaomi Mix Flip as it made its appearance on the IMEI database in China carrying model number 2311BPN23C.

Of course, the listing mentioned the phone’s existence and yes, it is also a flip phone, but there are not many details available about the same. The sketch leaked by GSMChina does show the phone’s design. It carries a centrally-placed punch-hole cut-out at the front while the rear camera bump spread across the width much like Pixel devices.

The phone is expected to host a triple rear camera with a telephoto lens capable of taking 3x optical zoom shots, however, there’s not much information available. Perhaps, these are early design sketches leaving scope for numerable changes until the phone reaches its final and confirmed design sometime next year.

The folks at GSMArena are confident that the Xiaomi Mix Fold will sport a Snapdragon 8 Gen3 SoC scheduled to arrive in a month. However, there’s a possibility that the phone will settle for something less current i.e. Snapdragon 8 Gen2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen1+. However, not much is known for sure so you will have to take it with a pinch of salt.

When it comes to the Xiaomi Mix Fold launch, it is expected to cut with the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 which is almost a year from today. Perhaps, that’s quite a lot of weight but things could change in a jiffy so be tuned to know more.
