According to an official post from the company’s Weibo account, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series will feature IP68 water and dust resistance. This means that the phone should be completely resistant to the ingress of dust and withstand any damage due to submersion in water for a limited time. However, the company hasn’t revealed the specifics, such as the maximum time the phone can withstand damage due to moisture.

As a standard, most flagships in 2023 have been released with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The list includes the Samsung Galaxy S23, Google Pixel 8, and Apple iPhone 15 series. In fact, flagships have stuck with an IP68 rating for quite some years now.

ROG Phone 8 Leaked Renders

Per the leaked renders, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 will carry a different design than the previous models. For instance, a large camera module protrudes from the back panel in the top left corner. Further, there appears to be the lineup’s mascot, with RGB lighting, toward the bottom. Other than this, leaked renders suggest the smartphone has a punch-hole cutout and a bezel-less display with a slightly thick chin at the bottom.

ROG Phone 8 Leaked Specifications

Regarding the launch timeline of the ROG Phone 8 series, ASUS will unveil it at the Consumer Electronics Show 2024. Leaked information suggests that the ROG Phone 8 and the Phone 8 Pro will have a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pro variant could also support 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support.

On the rear panel, the phones will carry a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor, an ultrawide sensor, and a three times optical zoom camera with 32MP resolution.

The ASUS ROG Phone 8 could have a five-magnet speaker system with support for spatial and Hi-Rest audio.
