Will All Galaxy S25 Models Feature Exynos Chips? Here’s What We Know

Last year, Samsung decided to go with Snapdragon chipsets for all its Galaxy S23 models, including the vanilla Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23 Plus, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor in these phones provided powerful and stable performance. However, with the Galaxy S24 lineup, the Korean tech giant offers the Exynos 2400 SoC on the non-Ultra variants in all markets except the United States, Canada, and China. The move allows the company to extend its in-house mobile processor ambitions and, with success, get more business from other brands.

Galaxy S25 Series To Feature Exynos 2500 SoC: Tipster

In 2025, however, Samsung could power all the Galaxy S25 series smartphones with an Exynos chip. According to an X (previously known as Twitter) user, Connor, the company is preparing to equip all the models in the Galaxy S25 series, potentially including the regular Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25 Plus, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with an Exynos processor. Per rumors, this could be the Exynos 2500 SoC that is reportedly in the works. According to a recent SamMobile report, the Exynos 2500 could use a 10-core CPU like its predecessor. Further, the processor will rely on Samsung’s second-generation 3nm fabrication processor, which “is said to be better than TSMC’s 3nm process in terms of area and efficiency.”

Galaxy Z Series Should Retain Snapdragon Processors

Per the tipster, Samsung will reserve the Snapdragon chipsets for its Galaxy Z series of foldables, which initially sounds odd because these are among the most expensive smartphones sold by the company. Won’t this make customers think that Samsung believes Snapdragon is better than its in-house processors on the Galaxy S series? From the company’s perspective, this will make for a decent differentiator between the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 might provide better performance than the Exynos 2500.

Last but not least, the tipster mentioned that the Galaxy A series, which consists of several entry-level and mid-range phones, will rely on MediaTek and Exynos processors. This seems a bit disappointing, especially since other brands are providing Snapdragon-powered smartphones in the same price range. Nonetheless, given the right chipset selection and optimization, Samsung could offer excellent performance on these smartphones. While these are our speculations related to what the tipster mentions, we also have to believe this might not be true.

Samsung Might Just Stick With Qualcomm For A Few More Years: Here’s Why

Samsung and Qualcomm are in a multi-year partnership, implying that the former intends to use Snapdragon chipsets for a longer time. Further, the Exynos chipsets haven’t proved their merit in the past, primarily in heat management. They aren’t as good with raw performance and efficiency either, which is why Samsung decided to equip the entire Galaxy S23 lineup with Snapdragon chipsets in the first place. Even though both Exynos 2500 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are under development, we’ve seen the early benchmark scores of the latter, which are very promising.

Hence, based on all the factors, it looks unlikely that Samsung will shift the Galaxy S25 series entirely to the Exynos 2500 SoC. The Galaxy S25 Ultra should still feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC unless Samsung spins the clock really fast and comes up with something even better. On the other hand, the claim about the Galaxy Z and Galaxy A series seems more likely, as that aligns with what the company is doing presently.
