Tesla and X’s CEO, Elon Musk, is known for his wit and sarcasm on the internet. He often posts rather offensive comments or posts on his microblogging app, where he often gets trolled by netizens. Most recently, Musk offered Wikipedia, a free online encyclopedia, a billion dollars if the platform changed its name. Although Wikipedia didn’t respond, its founder, Jimmy Wales, recently expressed concerns over X’s takeover in a conversation with CNBC at the Web Summit in Lisbon.

Users Leaving Twitter Is A Huge Problem: Wales

Wales told the publication that the microblogging service is losing users as it’s being overrun by “trolls and lunatics.” In his response to a question about Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, Wales said, “It’s a huge problem.” He thinks many people are leaving X, “a lot of thoughtful and serious people.” The platform claims it is the default public square, where people can openly express their thoughts, but the way it’s being run isn’t good for users, says Wales.

Musk Hasn’t Had The Best Relations With Silicon Valley Leaders

Similarweb reveals that X’s engagement is down compared to last year’s. However, earlier this year, Musk announced that the platform’s engagement level is good. Nonetheless, Musk seems to have a hot and sour relationship with the Silicon Valley leaders, including Mark Zuckerberg and Vlad Tenev. Last year, Musk said that Wikipedia has a left-wing bias. Even this year, Musk offered Wikipedia a billion dollars if the platform changed its name to “Dickipedia.” Wales says he has had a war of words with the X CEO, and most of the time, he ignores what Musk says.
