WhatsApp Will Soon Let You Edit Messages

With a user base surpassing the 2 billionth mark, WhatsApp is working towards improving the user experience with new features being added regularly. The latest WhatsApp Beta v2.23.10.10 brings at least two new features in the works – the ability to edit WhatsApp messages and use WhatsApp on Wear OS devices that we will discuss at large below.

WhatsApp Edit Message Feature

For years, WhatsApp users have been demanding a feature to edit a sent message as it could be laced with spelling mistakes, typos, and uneven something that the user didn’t wish to send. Although WhatsApp introduced an ‘unsend’ feature recently, it leaves a timestamp on chats marked as ‘This Message Was Deleted’. With the latest feature in the works, users will be able to edit these typos and unwanted messages without unsending the messages.

The feature is still in testing and available to beta testers on WhatsApp Beta v2.23.10.10 via Google Play Store. As reported by WABetaInfo which keeps track of features WhatsApp is working on, the feature will give 15 minutes for users to alter the sent messages. Once the window is closed, you won’t be able to edit the message although there’s an option to unsend it.

You can edit any messages on WhatsApp by long-press on the message sent, and selecting ‘Edit Message’ that should open a pop-up asking you to make the required changes. Once the user has modified the message, they can send it and the same will be reflected on recipients provided they are using the latest WhatsApp version.

WhatsApp Adding Support to WearOS

WhatsApp is now extending its support to smartwatches with WearOS. It will soon let users operate their WhatsApp account, respond to texts, and more on their smartwatch rather than pulling the phone from their pockets every time it buzzes.

The app will be covered by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption similar to how it is available on multiple companion and phone devices, a feature that the instant messaging app rolled out just a few days ago.

These two major features are still in the beta stage which means unless you have not signed up for the beta program, you won’t be able to get your hands on the feature.
