Week 12 in review: Oppo Find X6, Galaxy M54, Huawei Mate X3, P60 series official

1 year ago 77

Week 12 was really busy and full of smartphone announcements, so let's recap it.

The Samsung Galaxy M54 is official with a 6.7-inch 1080p 120Hz Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 1380 chipset, a 108MP main camera, and a 6,000mAh battery with 25W charging.

The Oppo Find X6 and Find X6 Pro debuted in China and unfortunately odds are they won't be leaving it. The Pro has what Oppo calls three main cameras - 1-inch 50MP wide angle, 50MP ultrawide with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, and 50MP 65mm periscope zoom with the same sensor, which is the biggest in a periscope module along with a bright f/2.6 lens. Impressive!

The Find X6 packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 6.82-inch LTPO3 1440p AMOLED that will peak at 2,500nits, and a 5,000mAh battery with 100W charging. We're eagerly hoping the Find X6 Pro eventually launches outside of China.

Huawei held a humongous Chinese launch. It announced the Mate X3 foldable - with IPX8 waterproofing, two 120Hz displays, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a 4,800mAh battery, and a triple camera with a periscope zoom.

The P60 series features the P60, the P60 Pro, and the P60 Art. All three phones share the 6.67-inch LTPO OLED screen with FHD+ resolution (1220×2700 px) and a 1-120Hz refresh rate. All three phones also have the same 48MP main camera with an RYYB sensor, OIS and f/1.4-f/4.0 ten-step variable aperture with automatic scene-based switching. For the ultrawide sensor, the P60 and P60 Pro share a 13MP unit with an f/2.2 aperture while P60 Art has a 40MP f/2.2 camera. For telephoto, the P60 brings a 12MP module with an f/3.4 aperture, OIS, and 125mm equivalent lens. The P60 Pro and P60 Art get fancier 48MP cameras with OIS and a 90mm equivalent lens capable of 3.5x optical and 100x digital zoom.

At least two of Huawei's phones will be coming to Europe with details to be announced on April 9.

Meanwhile, Tecno launched the Spark 10 series in India, calling it the Spark 10 Universe.
