The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo is said to be working on two new book-style foldables: X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro. These models will take after the X Fold 2 lineup that came out last year. Most recently, tipster Digital Chat Station has published information about the upcoming foldables phones, including a schematic and other spec-related details.

As the schematic shows, the X Fold 3 should come with a circular camera module on the back, with two regular lenses and one rectangular periscope lens. Then, there’s the Zeiss branding and a dual-LED flash setup toward the right of the lenses. On the front, the smartphone could come with a punch-hole display. Apart from these details, the tipster mentions that the foldable will be the thinnest and lightest in its segment.

iQoo 12 to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC

Under the hood, the smartphone could feature the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a significant upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the X Fold 2. Regarding optics, the phone could retain its 50MP primary sensor. However, users could get a new 64MP periscope sensor and a 50MP ultrawide shooter. Interestingly, the handset could feature the Vivo V3 custom imaging chip, further enhancing the photographs.

Per the tipster, the overall camera performance of the foldable, including the 4K 60fps video recording, will be similar to the Vivo X100 Pro (review). Now, coming to the difference between the X Fold 3 and the X Fold 3 Pro, the latter could come with an under-display fingerprint scanner, along with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. The former could stick with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and slower charging rates for cost-cutting purposes. Storage variants could be another differentiating factor.

Samsung Z Fold 6 Vs. Vivo X Fold 3

Per recent rumors, Vivo could announce the Fold 3 and Pad 3 lineups by late March. The products should then be available to purchase by April. Given that Samsung isn’t planning to change the Fold 6’s overall form factor significantly, the X Fold 3 early arrival and lighter form factor could challenge the Korean brand’s foldables. Nonetheless, we’re eager to see how users respond to the upcoming generation of foldables from popular brands.
