UNBREAKABLE! iPhone 15 Ultra set to get the titanium advantage- tougher than the rest

Iconic rocker, Bruce Springsteen, in one of his more mellow moments, penned a love song titled, "Tougher Than The Rest". And considering that Apple considers its iPhones more of a labour of love than anything else, it is working along those lines for its next one. Well, Apple is looking to make the iPhone 15 Ultra, which will launch in the Fall of ' 23, tougher than the rest and that will be courtesy a special metal- titanium.

It's been a couple of months only since Apple upgraded its iPhone line-up with iPhone 14 series but speculation regarding iPhone 15 has got a lot of the fans worked up. The features and design of the next iPhone series is grabbing headlines already. While we read that the iPhone 15 lineup will arrive with periscopic camera lenses , a recent report from Forbes has given a little more insight on the build quality of the upcoming iPhone series. As per the report, the most expensive smartphone of the next iPhone series' - iPhone 15 Ultra - is likely to arrive with a lighter and tougher build quality. Apple is speculated to bring iPhone 15 Ultra with a titanium chassis along with an eye-catching design.

iPhone 15 Ultra to get a design change

As of now, Apple has been using stainless steel exclusively on its premium smartphones since the 2017 iPhone X. However, the popular leaker LeaksApplePro claims that the iPhone 15 Ultra will have a titanium chassis. The handsets will be far stronger and lighter than the stainless steel oness. And this may also affect its cost as it will be pricier because titanium costs $35-50 per kilogram, compared to $1-1.50 per kilogram for stainless steel. As shared by Forbes, “titanium's strength-to-weight ratio is on another level to stainless steel, providing almost the same strength at 40% of its weight.” The portal has also noted that titanium is 3-4x stronger than stainless steel at the same weight.

Meanwhile, a recent report has suggested that Apple is going to effect a the big switch in terms of the iPhone charger. The tech giant will replace the lightning port with a USB Type-C port in European countries.

The rumors say that the Cupertino-based tech giant has already initiated the testing of the USB type-C charging port on iPhones. The report came after a major EU ruling that ordered Apple to adopt a type of cable called USB-C by 2024.
