Tim Cook speaks about new iPhones

Apple just released the iPhone 15 series, and rumors about the next iPhone are already coming in. Amidst the never-ending hype around the iPhone, the Cupertino-based tech giant’s CEO gave a brief interview. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, spoke about why the company makes new iPhones, what the iPhone will be like in a few decades, and how Cook personally helps the environment. Here’s what the CEO of the most valuable tech company on the planet said in the interview.

Apple Makes iPhones Every Year “Those People That Want It”

When asked why the company makes new iPhones every year, given that the entry-level iPhones are becoming increasingly similar, with the iPhone 15 as an exception, the CEO said, “Having an iPhone every year for those people that want it is a great thing.”

Further, Cook explained how the company provides trade-in offers, giving decent value for users’ existing iPhones in exchange for a cash discount on the new iPhone. Explaining what the company does with the old iPhones, Cook says, “We then resell that phone if it’s still working.” If the phone doesn’t work, the company finds more ways to disassemble it, recycle the materials, and make new iPhones.

Apple’s CEO also believes iPhones will be carbon neutral a few decades later. When asked what he does to help the environment personally, Cook said he drives an electric car. He tries to avoid plastics and plastic bottles. Further, he recycles and composts. Whatever Cook does, he tries to maintain a low carbon footprint.

Most recently, we’ve heard some rumors about the iPhone 16 lineup. Analysts believe the iPhone 16 lineup will come with some significant changes, including a faster 5G modem, Wi-Fi 7, and a new ultra-wide sensor on the iPhone 16 Pro. Further, the upcoming iPhones could also be slightly larger than the current lineup. However, it’s still very early to talk about the iPhone 16.
