Ryzen 8600G Graphics processor benchmark (1)

The California-based chip manufacturer AMD is about to release the Ryzen 5 8600G desktop APU soon. Ahead of the launch, the model’s leaked Geekbench scores suggest that the integrated graphics processor could be as good as Nvidia’s GTX 1060. Although this is an older chipset, the benchmark scores indicate a significant jump in graphical performance.

Ryzen 8600G Scores Well In Vulkan And OpenCL Benchmarks

The AMD Ryzen 8600G recently appeared on the Geekbench 6.2.2 Vulkan and OpenCL benchmarks, where the processor scored 30,770 points in the former and 24,842 points in the latter. These are respectable scores, considering that an integrated graphics chip has achieved them.

Radeon 760M Specifications

The benchmark scores also suggest that the Ryzen 8600G processor could come with the Radeon 760M GPU, providing slightly better performance than the GeForce RTX 1060. This graphics processor should come with eight compute units and 512 GPU shader cores, which is decent but less than that of the 12 compute units and 768 shaders on the Radeon 780M.

Ryzen 5 8600G Could Be A Great Budget Gaming Processor

AMD’s integrated graphics processor not only matches the old GTX 1060, but it does so while consuming much less power. Moreover, the Ryzen 8600G could compete as a budget gaming processor, especially for those who can’t buy a dedicated graphics processor due to inflated prices. The graphics performance by the processor should be enough for most video games, albeit on the lowest settings.

More Details Should Surface Post-Launch

The company also has the Ryzen 7 8700G processor in its pipeline, which is expected to arrive with the Radeon 780M graphics processor. This model should provide about 50 percent better performance than the Radeon 760M on the 8600G, an even better option for casual gamers.

AMD should launch both chipsets during the Consumer Electronics Show 2024. More information related to the pricing and availability should show up post-launch.
