The Korean tech giant Samsung recently revealed the Galaxy S24 series. Even though the series might appear expensive initially, it has reportedly broken several pre-sale records in not just the company’s native market but also another major region.
Galaxy S24 Series Breaks Pre-Sales Record In India
Even though the most popular Samsung smartphones in India are from the affordable Galaxy A series, the AI-powered S24 lineup seems to be doing well in the country. According to a report by Phone Arena, the series sold 250,000 units in the first three days of the pre-order window. The number is higher than what Samsung achieved with the Galaxy S23 series in three weeks of pre-orders.
Samsung Sold Over A Million Units During The Pre-Order Window In Korea
According to a report by Maeil Business News, the Galaxy S24 series has set a new pre-sale record in Korea, the company’s home market. After a week of pre-orders, Samsung sold 1.21 million units of the latest lineup. This is higher than the pre-order sales of the Galaxy S23 series, which sold 1.09 million units in the same duration.
Out of the 1.21 pre-orders, 60 percent were for the top-tier Galaxy S24 Ultra. Further, the S24 Plus witnessed an order volume of 21 percent, while the vanilla Galaxy S24 stood at 19 percent. For those wondering about the most popular color in the market, the answer is Titanium Black for the Ultra variant and Marvel Gray for the Plus and regular variants.
Galaxy Note 10 Still Holds The Pre-Order Sales Record
Although the S24 series seems to be doing well, it stands behind the Galaxy Note 10‘s pre-sale record, which sold 1.3 million units. However, the pre-order window for the series was open for 11 days, i.e., four more days than the Galaxy S24 series. However, in terms of daily average sales, the latest series managed about 173,000 units, which is higher than the Galaxy Note 10’s 125,000.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy S24 series were open from January 19 through January 25. Based on the solid opening, ETNews suggests that the company is on track to ship 36 million units of the series, another record since Samsung sold 30 million units of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus.
Will Samsung Regain The Top Spot It Recently Lost To Apple?
Although these might look like regular sales numbers for one of the most popular smartphone brands in the world, they are very important to Samsung, particularly because the company lost the number-one position in global shipments to Apple. According to an IDC report, the Cupertino-based tech giant managed to secure the first position by shipping over 80 million units in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Hence, the sales record in two big markets might be a ray of hope for Samsung, which surely wants to regain its top position this year. The company already has the upper hand on Apple as it introduced AI-based features in the Galaxy S24 series, whereas the AI-powered iPhones will hit markets later this year.
