Samsung Likely to Rebrand Exynos Chip to “Dream Chip” in 2024

Exynos

Two years ago, Qualcomm rebranded its Snapdragon chips starting with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead of Snapdragon 898. Seems like the South Korean giant Samsung could be en route to pull off something similar to Qualcomm. The latest tip suggests Samsung is likely to rebrand Exynos chip to “Dream Chip” and yes, it might seem far-fetched but there’s always a possibility that it might be true.

Samsung is gearing up for an Exynos 2400 SoC that will power an assortment of Samsung Galaxy S24 series. When compared against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy Ap (onboard S24 series), the Exynos 2400 SoC failed to leave a dent in terms of performance. It does have impressive benchmarking scores but poor thermals could put it off the track. Perhaps, you should consider the competition as fierce as it can be since the market is currently being dominated by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2/ Gen 3, Apple A17 Pro, MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC among others.

The last Exynos flagship aka the Exynos 2200 was released in 2022 for the Galaxy S22 series. It failed to perform in line when compared against the flagship rivals like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Samsung’s Exynos doesn’t have a great reputation. The plunging overheating issues, battery drain, stuttering on videos, and others have always been on the headlines. With a rebranding in the works, this could be a fresh start for Samsung in this industry which is something very common in the tech world, say Meta instead of Facebook.

The information comes from a tipster on X (formerly Twitter) with username @OreXda according to whom, Samsung will rebrand Exynos next year and the potential name is “Dream Chip”. It will be effective across all its chipsets much like Qualcomm’s move in 2021.

Note that the name “Dream Chip” may not resonate well with a flagship chip and may seem far-fetched but we will have to wait for more information. Watch out for this space for more such updates.

Talking about Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch, its expected to be in mid-January 2024. The Galaxy S24 series was spotted on India’s BIS which means an imminent launch is in motion. Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ will be available in both Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 SoC depending upon where you are buying them from. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available solely in Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC worldwide.
