Samsung launches Galaxy S23 & Galaxy S23+ smartphones with a difference in display size & battery

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series has gone official globally and just like the last few years, the brand has included 3 models in the S23 Series- Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. While we have already talked about the top-end S22 Ultra in detail in another story, let’s talk about the other 2 smartphones in the lineup – Galaxy S22 and S22+. Both these devices have similar specs so there is no difference in their features apart from Galaxy  S22+ having a slightly larger display, being heavier, and packing a larger battery than the S22 vanilla model.

Samsung Galaxy S23 comes in 3 storage configurations- 8GB RAM+128GB storage, 8GB RAM+256GB storage and 8GB RAM+512GB storage. The price starts at 799 USD.

Samsung Galaxy S23+ comes in 2 storage variants- 8GB RAM+256GB storage and 8GB RAM+512GB storage. The price starts at 999 USD.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will be available in 4 main colors- Phantom Black, Botanic Green, Cream, and Lavender. Other special colorways will be accessible via Samsung’s official website.

Both Galaxy S23 and S23+ will be up for pre-order from 1st Feb in USA and deliveries will start from February 17.

Samsung Galaxy S23 & Galaxy S23+: Specs & Features

The Samsung Galaxy S23 vanilla model sports a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with 2340×1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1750 nits brightness, Vision booster, and Enhanced comfort. Galaxy S23+ on the other hand has a 6.6-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with the same 2340×1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, Vision booster, and Enhanced comfort.

Samsung Galaxy S23+ Exclusive First Look was shared by Smartprix, which totally matches the final design.

The smartphones are powered by a custom-made Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. They run Android 13-based One UI 5.1 and are equipped with connectivity options like 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6E, eSIM, and more. The devices will have real-time ray tracing this time.

In the camera department, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ have a triple camera setup at the back. The smartphones have a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. The cameras come with enhanced night photography, crisp and stable night video, improved image stabilization, Adaptive Pixel, VDIS, OIS, Auto Framing, Director’s View, and Super HDR. There is a 12MP dual-pixel front camera as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 has a 3900mAh battery with 25W wired fast charging whereas the Galaxy S23+ packs a 4700mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Wireless charging is also available. Battery life has been improved due to specifically made chipsets.

Coming to the dimensions and weight of the 2 smartphones, the smaller Galaxy S23 measures 70.9×146.3×7.6mm and weighs 168 grams while the slightly larger Galaxy S23+ measures 76.2×157.8×7.6mm and weighs 196 grams. Both are protected are Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor aluminum for protection. The smartphones are IP68 rated.
