The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is in the house and we take a quick look at the five amazing features that you will like. Take a look.

Samsung's Galaxy Fold phones have defined what the most luxurious phones of our times can look and feel like. Right from 2019's Galaxy Fold to 2022's Galaxy Z Fold 4, these phones are more than just big phablets with a folding screen – it is how Samsung makes use of that big folding screen with its clever software design to make the most out of it. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, according to Samsung, is the latest and the greatest foldable phone it has ever made. But is that actually the case?

We have just got our hands on a brand new Beige Galaxy Z Fold 4 and right after unboxing, there are five things that sets it apart from other luxury smartphones available in the market today. Prices in India start at Rs. 1,54,999 for the base variant of the Fold 4 and that pits it against the mighty Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max, which has been our evergreen favourite in this premium segment.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: Five Amazing features

It's a folding phone!

Call us lame but the folding phones are still cool four years after their arrival. You have a 6.2-inch full fledged flagship-quality display for regular tasks and a mega 7.6-inch display when you want the tablet experience. The Cover Display has a variable refresh rate of 48Hz to 120Hz whereas the Main Display has the variable refresh rate of 1Hz-120Hz. Moreover, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the only phone in the world to run Android 12L; the tablet-friendly version of Android.

Works like a regular phone when closed!

The previous Galaxy Z Fold 3 had a similarly big display but due to its slimmer aspect ratio, it wasn't as easy to use for most tasks. The Fold 4 has a slightly shorter yet wider Cover Display that offers more space to play with. Hence, texting on the Fold 4's Cover Display is easier and so is watching YouTube, or reading webpages. In short, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is easier to use in the folded down state.

New Snapdragon processor runs cool

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a big step up from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 888. It has barely been a few hours since we have used it but throughout its setup process and using the cameras, the phone runs a lot cooler than the Fold 3 and other Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagships. The power efficient nature also allows for better battery life so far, which is a big deal on a multimedia phone like the Fold 4.

Taskbar changes the way you use a foldable

The Fold has always been able to multitask unlike any other phone with clever software modifications. This year, Samsung gives the Fold 4 a new Taskbar feature. Just like your Windows PC, the taskbar stays open with your favourite apps pinned. You will be able to quickly access apps from here as well as from the app tray, all while you have another app opened. It almost blurs out the distinction between a phone and a PC.

It is durable and water-resistant

Phones with moving parts are not easy to maintain but the Galaxy Z Fold 4 gets some solid engineering from Samsung. The body is made of Armor Aluminium that is more durable to drops. The front and rear glass is made of Gorilla Glass Victus+, which means better scratch and drop protection. Additionally, the IPX8 rating also assures of protection from light rain, sweat and moisture. Not many foldable phones are built this tough.
