Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Tops DXOMark’s Display Test, Beats Pixel 8 Pro And iPhone 15 Pro Max

7 months ago 61

Last month, Samsung released its Galaxy S24 series globally. The series includes three smartphones: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. And even though early adopters are facing some issues with the displays of these phones, they’ve scored exceptionally well in the French benchmarking site DXOMark, which assessed the phones for their display quality and other related aspects.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has topped the DXOMark’s display rankings. With an overall display score of 155, the handset leaves behind the Google Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The French site evaluates a phone’s display based on several aspects, including Readability (161/163), Color (148/164), Video (152/162), Motion (156/156), Touch (162/170), and Artifacts (148/163), and the model scores well in all of them.

The site notes that the phone provides good readability under sunlight, courtesy of the highest peak brightness on a smartphone. Further, the Gorilla Armor glass on the front helps reduce reflections by a significant level. DXOMark also notes that the S24 Ultra renders accurate colors in most lighting environments and manages frame mismatches well. However, the website also mentions that the phone can be uncomfortably bright in low lighting.

Galaxy S24 And Galaxy S24 Plus Also Perform Well

In the global display ranking, where Galaxy S24 Ultra holds the first position, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus share the second position with the Google Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro. These handsets score 154 on the overall display test. Further, the site praises them for exceptional readability and accurate color rendering. However, like the S24 Ultra, the other two models are also criticized for being too bright in low-light conditions.

Even though these models have topped the DXOMark benchmarking test, users are still facing several issues, such as washed-out colors, grainy texture on black or gray backgrounds, and horizontal bars in low brightness settings. While some customers have managed to get a replacement unit, others are still struggling to solve the issue. Read more details about the Galaxy S24 display issues here.
