Redmi Note 14 series in the works for China to take on Realme 12 series

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 13 series will make its global launch on January 4 with India the first market outside China to get it. But it seems like the Chinese smartphone maker is already working on the next-gen Redmi Note 14 series for the Chinese market that will take on the Realme 12 series.

As per the latest reports coming from China’s tipster Smart Pikachu, the Redmi Note 14 series will arrive in the Chinese market in the first quarter of 2024. As usual, it will carry multiple units, probably Redmi Note 14, Note 14 Pro, and Note 14 Pro+. If rumors are to be believed, the series aims to take on the Realme 12 series and most probably, the Pro series.

Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+, both are likely to sport a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC. The Pro model will get a 32MP Sony IMX709 telephoto with 2x optical while the Pro+ gets a 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope lens with 3x optical zoom capabilities. Likewise, the Redmi Note 14 series will primarily focus on camera performance as well and thus, would pick a similar rear camera setup to the Realme 12 series. Redmi Note 13 Pro+ became the first-ever Redmi phone to pack a 200MP sensor which means Redmi Note 14 Pro+ could bring such features as well.

Circling back to the Redmi Note 14 series, we could see the Chinese launch sometime in September as it will follow in the footsteps of its predecessors. As usual, the global launch will kickstart sometime in January or February next year.

Reports suggest Redmi Note 14 series to get a curved-edge display, a telephoto/periscope telephoto lens, and some flagship-level specs possibly priced around CNY 2,000 which is almost the same as the rumored Realme 12 Pro series.
