OnePlus 12

The OnePlus 12 came out in China on December 5, 2023. However, the brand decided to release the smartphone globally after a month and a half. The latest flagship from OnePlus will hit the Indian market and other regions on January 23, 2024. Ahead of the official launch, we know almost everything about the smartphone, including its screen, storage, processor, camera, and battery.

OnePlus 12 Will Ship With More RAM On The Base Variant Than OnePlus 11

However, ahead of the official launch, a tipster seems to have leaked the storage variants that will launch in India. Per Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus 12 will come in India with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage on the base variant. The top variant, on the other hand, will feature 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. In China, the brand also sells a 24GB RAM version, but that is unlikely to come to India.

OnePlus 12’s Expected Price

In addition, a recent leak suggests that the price of the flagship could be around Rs. 58,000 to Rs. 60,000 in India, which is more affordable than most flagships in the market, except the iQoo 12. In contrast, the OnePlus 12R could cost between Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 42,000, placing the phone in competition with the Nothing Phone (2).

How Does OnePlus 12’s RAM Stack Up Against Its Competitors?

Vivo’s iQoo recently released the first flagship powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in India – iQoo 12. Its base variant ships with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, costing Rs. 52,999.

Google’s latest flagship, the Pixel 8, comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on the base variant, which appears slightly overpriced at Rs. 75,999. The Pixel 8 Pro, however, has 12GB of RAM.

Samsung’s vanilla Galaxy S23 also ships 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on the lowest trim, costing Rs. 74,999. Even the top-tier Galaxy S23 Ultra features 8GB of RAM.

Why Does More RAM Matter on the OnePlus 12?

Clearly, the OnePlus 12 is among the phones with the highest RAM on the base variant. When coupled with a powerful processor, the extra memory helps users multitask by handling heavier workflows better.

This is also an upgrade over the OnePlus 11, whose base variant shipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Along with OnePlus 12, the company will launch the OnePlus 12R with 8GB of RAM on the lowest trim. Further, the more affordable model will also come in another variant with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
