It’s time for smartphone makers to show off their new phones as we approach the year 2024. Seems like London-based Nothing is already geared up as it is cooking a new mid-range phone aptly dubbed as Nothing Phone (2a). The latest update concerning the phone says Nothing will launch it at the MWC 2024 in Barcelona which is happening at the end of February.
We showed an early glance at Nothing’s Phone (2a) a few days ago, however, the image was rather blurry and pixelated and unable to keep the attention of tech enthusiasts. Cut to now, tipster Dylan Roussel has posted a better-looking GIF showing the upcoming phone which looks nothing like its predecessors.
Nothing Phone (2a) carries model number A142 and code Pacman which goes in line with Nothing Phone 1’s Spacewar and Phone 2’s Pong, the trio are the titles of yesteryear’s video games. Talking about the newly teased design, we can see a designed back panel with three Glyph LED light strips that are likely to have granular control.
The Glyph is arranged around the circular camera island while the rear dual camera setup is arranged horizontally within the island. Additionally, there are some interesting design elements at the bottom half of the phone although we will have to wait to see exactly what it looks like with a finished product.
Nothing Phone (2a) is likely to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, the first for Nothing phones given the fact that previous models have used Snapdragon chips. There’s also a speculated screen size of 6.7” housing a punch-hole cut-out for the front camera.
A media invite coming from Nothing titles itself as “Nothing to See” at the MWC 2024 on February 27 where we must see Nothing Phone (2a) making its splash. There’s also a successor Nothing Phone (3) in the pipeline although I highly doubt it is gonna launch during the same MWC 2024 event.
