Nothing Phone 1 now shows Apple AirPods battery percentage natively. Know how it works.

Nothing wants to establish a unified ecosystem arrangement with products from all brands – be it Apple or any of the hundreds of Android-based brands. The Ear 1 and Ear Stick earbuds have supported Apple products right from the beginning and now, Nothing wants to integrate Apple products better with its main ecosystem device – the Nothing Phone 1. In its latest update, Nothing says that the Phone 1 now supports the Apple AirPods in a big way.

The latest Nothing OS 1.1.7 update has been rolled out for the Phone 1 and amongst other bug fixes, the update brings support for the Apple AirPods. AirPods users who also use a Nothing Phone 1 will be able to see the battery percentage of the AirPods. This is a big deal for AirPods users, since other Android phones don't show any data related to the AirPods. And, Apple does not have any companion app for Android devices.

Note that the feature isn't turned on by default. Similar to the Tesla unlock feature that was rolled out during the phone's launch, the AirPods battery percentage feature is part of the Experimental Features inside the Phone 1 settings. Users will have to enable this manually from the settings.

Not sure which
mobile to buy?

This makes the Nothing Phone 1 a good option for those who use an iPhone and want an Android phone as well as their secondary device. The Phone 1 resembles the current generation of iPhones and with the support, it will make it easy for Apple users to use the AirPods with both devices.

Other than the AirPods battery percentage, the latest Nothing OS update also brings the November Android security patch. Additionally, the update also fixes the battery status to be more accurate, better OS fluidity with reduced stutters, better audio quality while recording videos and better thermal performance.

Additionally, Nothing CEO Carl Pei also teased the arrival of the Android 13 beta for the Nothing OS. The Android 13 update is expected to bring all the changes underneath but no changes to the Nothing OS itself.
