NIO Phone gets its first software update

Last week, Chinese EV maker NIO launched its first smartphone called NIO Phone, which is receiving its first software update.

Some users received the update weighing 128MB in size, while some required a download of 558MB, with the latter bringing Intelligent Vehicle Control and NIO Link Relay to the smartphone.

The Intelligent Vehicle Control brings fingerprint verification support and onboard temperature syncing when getting in a NIO car, while NIO Link Relay lets users transfer navigation to the in-car system and automatically end it on the NIO Phone.

Besides, NIO Link Relay adds voice command support for a countdown timer, world clock, and navigation route.

The NIO Phone runs SkyUI and has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC at the helm with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. It's built around a 6.81" 120Hz 1440p OLED display and packs a 5,200 mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The NIO Phone also features an in-display fingerprint scanner and has four cameras in tow - 50MP primary, 50MP periscope telephoto, 50MP ultrawide, and a selfie shooter.
