Microsoft Chat GPT-4 Roundup: What is it, Uses, How to use for free & more

1 year ago 62

Microsoft Open AI has started the rollout of the Chat GPT-4 which is an extremely powerful artificial intelligence model that succeeds the technology behind the wildly popular ChatGPT. GPT 4 is multimodal which actually means it can generate content from both image & text prompts. Let us have a look at everything about Chat GPT-4.

Chat GPT-4 Vs Chat GPT-3.5

The most important differentiation between GPT 3.5 and GPT-4 is that while the former could only take text prompts, the latter can use images and inputs to recognize objects in a picture and then analyze them.

Also while Chat GPT 3.5 was limited to about 3000 words, GPT-4 can generate responses of more than 25,000 words.

GPT-4 is 82% less likely to respond to requests for disallowed content than GPT 3.5 and scores 40% higher on certain tests of factuality. GPT-4 will allow the developers to decide their AI’s style of tone and verbiage. For instance, GPT-4 can take on a Socratic style of conversation and reply to questions with questions. This was not possible with GPT 3.5 as it had a fixed tone and style. The users will soon be able to change the chatbot’s tone and style of responses, Open AI claimed.

What can Chat GPT-4 do?

The latest version of the Chat GPT by Microsoft has outperformed its predecessor in the US Bar Exam and GRE. GPT-4 can help individuals calculate their taxes, a presentation showed. The demo showed off how it could take a photo of a hand-drawn mock-up for a simple website and then create a real one. Be My Eyes, an app that caters to visually impaired people will provide a virtual volunteer tool powered by GPT-4 on its app.

What can Chat GPT-4 not do?

Chat GPT-4 just like all its predecessors, is less capable than humans in many real-world scenarios. It sometimes gives inaccurate responses that are known as hallucinations, which has been a common issue with many AI programs including the GPT-4. It can rival humans in many domains, but only when it collaborates with a human editor. An example was recited that showed GPT-4 coming up with solutions that seemed possible about how to get 2 parties to disagree with each other. Combine this with human intelligence and it might just work.

Open AI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman said Chat GPT-4 was most capable and aligned with human values and intent, though it is still flawed. GPT-4 mainly lacks knowledge about the events that took place after September 2021 which means it doesn’t know a vast amount of incidents.  Also, it doesn’t learn from experience as it is not human.

Who can access GPT-4?

While GPT-4 can process both image and text as mentioned above, only the text-input feature will be available to the ChatGPT plus subscribers and software developers, that too with a waitlist, while the image input ability is still not available in the public domain.

The Plus subscription plan offers faster response time and priority access to new features and was launched in February for 20 USD per month. GPT-4 powers Microsoft’s Bing AI chatbot and some features on language learning platform Duolingo’s subscription tier.

How to use Chat GPT-4 for free?

Microsoft has announced that their Bing AI or Bing Chat is also powered by GPT-4. Microsoft VP and Consumer Chief marketing office Yusuf Mehdi said, “we’re happy to confirm the new Bing is running on GPT-4, which we’ve customized for search.” When users asked if they should have the new Bing and register for the waitlist again, the Microsoft executive confirmed that they don’t need to re-register as they are on the latest and greatest Bing.

Microsoft AI is built on Prometheus, which combines Microsoft’s Bing web data and OpenAI language model to answer complex queries in a conversational way. Bing was unveiled last month to challenge Google Search and to use Bing AI or Bing Chat, users can download the Bing app or use Bing Search on the Microsoft Edge Browser. Bing AI is also being added to the taskbar and some services like Skype.

Bing is available to use for free, but users will need to join a waitlist. Access might take a week’s time. Meanwhile, Microsoft is planning to add GPT-4 image analyzing capabilities to Bing AI, but there’s still time for that to happen.
