With Vision Pro’s entry into the extended reality segment, several other players, such as Sony, Samsung, and Google, are planning to release their products as well. However, the latest addition to the list seems to be LG Electronics. The company’s CEO recently confirmed that it could launch an XR-enabled product as early as next year.

As mentioned in a report published by The Guru, LG Electronics plans to release a commercially available XR device as early as next year. “This is to join the XR market in earnest, following Apple and Samsung electronics.” The report mentions that Apple’s entry into the extended reality segment has drawn a lot of players, including LG.

Samsung And Google Are Already Working On Their XR Products

This year, the iPhone maker expects to ship around 400,000 units of its Vision Pro headset. On the other hand, Samsung Electronics has collaborated with Google and Qualcomm to develop its XR devices. The latter recently launched the Snapdragon XR2+ 2nd Generation processor for XR devices, suggesting the company could launch a device soon.

Being one of the largest display makers in the world, LG already has experience in creating a few of the brightest OLED TVs and webOS that provide a usable interface. Hence, the company’s push toward XR, which could result in new hardware, could help the company and others compete with Apple’s Vision Pro.

LG Electronics has decided to step into the XR space at a crucial stage since the market is about to grow from $41 billion to $859 billion in the next six years (per Presence Research). However, whether it will develop a product from the group or focus on making excellent screens for other brands is yet to be seen.
