Lenovo Launches New Laptops, 3D Monitor Ahead Of CES 2024

Ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show 2024, Lenovo has launched a couple of consumer-oriented devices, including two notebooks and a 3D monitor. The notebooks add to the existing ThinkPad X1 and IdeaPad lineups. On the other hand, the ThinkVision 3D Monitor is the first of its kind. Here’s everything you need to know about the new products from Lenovo.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 (Gen 12) and the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 (Gen 9) feature a 14-inch OLED narrow bezel display with 2.8K resolution, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 400 nits. For audio, the notebooks support Dolby Atmos with Dolby Voice for an enhanced listening experience.

These models run on the latest Intel Core Ultra processors (with Intel Arc graphics processor), feature up to 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 2TB of Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD storage. Regarding the battery, the models ship with a 90 percent PCC 57 Whr cell.

When it comes to ports, the ThinkPad X1 models have two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A (5Gbps) ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, and one 3.5mm headphone jack. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.3, 5G, and 4G LTE. Users also get a fingerprint reader, camera privacy shutter, and a Kensington lock slot.

The regular ThinkPad X1 (Gen 12) models are available from USD 2,989 in limited configurations starting from December 2023. On the other hand, the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 9 should be available for USD 2,639 beginning in March 2024.

Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i

The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i is the first consumer-grade Intel Evo Edition laptop. It features up to Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 1TB Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD. This model is available with an Intel Arc graphics processor or up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 laptop-grade graphics processor.

With respect to displays, users have four options to choose from, including two 16-inch options with either 2K (OLED) or 2.5K (IPS) resolution and two 14-inch models with OLED and IPS options. All variants feature a 2 x 2W speaker setup (with Dolby Atmos Audio), an IR FHD camera with a ToF sensor, and a dual microphone array. Further, an 84 WHr battery cell is also present on both devices.

Regarding ports, users get a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C (PD + DP) port, one HDMI 2.1 port for relaying videos in up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one SD card reader, and one 3.5mm audio jack. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth v5.2.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i is available now, starting from USD 1,149.99.

Lenovo ThinkVision 3D Monitor

Lenovo has also announced the ThinkVision 3D monitor. It comes with native 2D-to-3D conversion technology, thanks to the built-in 3D rendering engine. Diagonally, the monitor measures 27 inches.

In 2D, it carries a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, whereas in 3D, the resolution drops to 1,920 x 2,160. Although it has a refresh rate of 60Hz, the monitor features Above RGB color accuracy, along with support for 99 percent DCl-P3 color space.

The 3D monitor also has several ports for seamless connectivity, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, 1 DisplayPort 1.4, one USB Type-C port, one RJ45 port, and an audio out. Other features of the device include the 3D Explorer software platform, factory color calibration, and a switchable lenticular lens with eye-tracking technology.

While the specifications are decent, the price of the Lenovo ThinkVision 3D monitor might be too steep for some users. It costs USB 2,999. Nonetheless, the monitor will be available for purchase starting February 2024.
