KTM has made a significant move in the Indian motorcycle market with the introduction of the all-new 390 Duke and 250 Duke models. These motorcycles come equipped with fresh mechanical components, boasting a sturdy trellis frame and an enhanced suspension and braking system. The 390 Duke, in particular, showcases a brand-new 399 cc engine, delivering slightly higher power and torque figures compared to its predecessor.

However, this upgrade comes at a cost, as the new 390 Duke is priced at Rs 3.11 lakh, marking a Rs 13,000 increase over the previous generation model. On the other hand, the latest 250 Duke maintains a competitive price point, with an almost identical price tag to its predecessor, standing at Rs 2.39 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

In terms of their visual aesthetics, both motorcycles have undergone a significant transformation compared to their previous-generation models. These two bikes now sport a fresh split-style headlamp design, which is accentuated by distinctive Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the 390 Duke. Additionally, their updated design includes newly designed alloy wheels that bear a striking resemblance to those found on the RC390, a more robust-looking fuel tank, and a split seat arrangement.
One of the standout features is the introduction of an entirely new 5-inch TFT digital instrument cluster. This advanced display offers a range of functionalities, including Bluetooth connectivity for seamless device pairing, music control for managing your tunes on the go, incoming call alerts to keep you informed, and turn-by-turn navigation assistance to ensure you never lose your way.
When it comes to their mechanical components, both motorcycles share several key features. They are both equipped with a robust 43 mm WP Apex front fork, offering the added flexibility of compression and rebound adjustments on the 390 Duke. In terms of rear suspension, the 250 Duke boasts a rear monoshock setup that is preload adjustable. On the other hand, the 390 Duke takes it a step further, allowing riders to fine-tune the rear monoshock not only for preload but also for rebound adjustments.
Both of these bikes are constructed around a sturdy trellis frame, providing a strong and agile foundation. At the rear, an aluminum swingarm further enhances the overall handling and stability of the motorcycles.
In terms of braking performance, both models are equipped with a newly integrated 320 mm front disc brake and a 240 mm rear disc brake. Notably, both motorcycles feature dual-channel ABS, which includes cornering and Supermoto modes, ensuring optimal safety and control in various riding conditions.
Powertrain
The new KTM 390 Duke boasts an upgraded single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, now at 399 cc, offering more displacement than its predecessor. This powertrain delivers a robust peak power of 44 bhp and a substantial peak torque of 39 Nm. Meanwhile, the 250 Duke is equipped with a 249 cc engine producing 30 bhp and 25 Nm of peak torque. Both motorcycles are equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. Furthermore, the 390 Duke comes with added features including a quick-shifter, slipper clutch, launch control, and three ride modes: Street, Rain, and Track.
