JioCinema, the streaming service owned by Viacom18, has entered into a multi-year content agreement with NBCUniversal (NBCU) to enhance its premium content offerings. Under this partnership, JioCinema will gain access to an extensive catalog of NBCU films and TV series, providing Indian audiences with a wide range of entertainment options.

The content library acquired through this collaboration encompasses titles from various NBCU entities, including Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, Universal Television Alternative Studio, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Bravo, and more.

To showcase the NBCU programming, JioCinema will introduce a dedicated Peacock branded hub on its newly announced “JioCinema Premium” subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) tier, set to go live next month.

While JioCinema has already captured viewers’ attention by offering free live screenings of the ongoing IPL cricket tournament, its first batch of content for the subscription tier came from a recent partnership with Warner Bros Discovery.

The NBCU deal brings an array of exciting titles to JioCinema’s subscribers. This includes the debut of the series “Young Rock,” featuring Dwayne Johnson, the action thriller “The Lazarus Project,” and the darkly romantic comedic drama “The Lovers.” Indian audiences can also enjoy Peacock Originals such as the much-anticipated “Bel-Air” starring Will Smith, “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin,” and the investigative drama series “The Calling” by Emmy winner David E. Kelley. Additionally, JioCinema users will have access to library content such as “Downton Abbey,” “Suits,” “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “The Mindy Project.” The unscripted show lineup includes popular titles like “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “Vanderpump Rules,” and “The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning.”

In addition to TV series, the partnership brings a selection of movies to JioCinema’s platform. Viewers can look forward to films such as “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” the sci-fi horror flick “M3GAN,” and upcoming releases like “Oppenheimer” and the latest installment of the Fast franchise. Older titles from beloved franchises like “Jurassic,” “Bourne,” “Shrek,” “Mummy,” and “Pitch Perfect” will also be available, providing a diverse and captivating movie-watching experience for subscribers.
