Jio 5G is now supported on Nothing Phone (1) with the latest OS update. Know all about it.

Jio 5G now comes to the Nothing Phone (1)! Nothing has just rolled out the latest Nothing OS update that brings support for Jio's Standalone 5G network. Jio's Sa 5G flavour relies entirely on the 5G infrastructure and does use 4G LTE infrastructure for coverage, hence the data speeds are expected to be much higher than that of Airtel 5G. Now, users of the Nothing Phone (1) can get support for Jio 5G on their devices.

The latest Nothing OS v1.1.6 update brings the ability to support Jio's 5G network and hence, those users having Jio's latest Welcome Offer for its 5G services can access 5G networks in available areas. The update makes the Nothing Phone (1) one of the few devices to support both Jio and Airtel 5G networks.

Along with the support for Jio 5G network, the Nothing OS v1.1.6 update also brings several other fixes and improvements. Users also get support for Google AR Core, which should help with all the Augmented Reality services from Google on the device.

Additionally, the update also brings a couple of fixes to the device. Video recording is now said to offer sharper output with improved stability, and the video recording LED light is always on by default, when you start shooting a video.

Nothing also promises a more fluid user interface, more accurate battery status, increased brightness with HDR content, a new Flip to Glyph animation, a couple of updated sound effects, and some other bug fixes. Note that the update only weighs 62.04 MB and is available to download for free OTA.

Note that Nothing is yet to start a beta trial of its Android 13 based update. The company had originally said that the Nothing Phone (1) will get the beta version of Nothing OS based on Android 13 in December 2022 and will be eventually upgraded to a stable version of Android 13 by January 2022.

On the side note, Nothing has just announced the Ear (Stick) earbuds. With a new cylindrical case design meant to imitate a lipstick case, the Ear (Stick) is aimed at offering all-day wearing comfort. Nothing promises up to 7 hours of battery life for the earbuds and 28 hours of overall stamina. Additionally, it also pairs with the new Nothing X app, which is now the default companion app for both earbuds.
