Indian Government

The Indian government has always had a strict approach towards banning porn websites in the country. As a result, most of the porn websites are blacklisted in India. However, there are a lot of workarounds that are being used by the masses to access all the prohibited content. But what if we tell you that visiting this kind of website could even result in getting warnings from the Indian government and a heavy amount fine? It is as strange and fishy as it sounds. Recently, the scammers have got a new trick up their sleeve. A report by The Lallantop suggested that the users are being duped by scammers in the name of the Indian government for watching or accessing porn online. Here in this article, we will talk about the scam in detail and let you know how you can identify the same and stay safe from it.

Pay a fine for watching porn online?

With this scam under the name of the government of India, scammers have trapped a lot of users who are into streaming porn online. This can be dubbed a new way of looting all the users with the help of fear and threats. The most disturbing part about this scam is that the users are not even targeted with any kind of false link, OTP, or any other stuff. This time, the users are being forced to pay money for opening porn sites on their devices.

Talking about the same, as soon as you open the porn website, you will immediately see a page that says ‘Government of India’ with the URL india.gov.in/police. Due to the title of the page and the URL, most of the people get tricked into believing that it is an official warning from the government. The page also displays a warning which says that the government of India is imposing a hefty amount of fine on you for continuously visiting porn websites from your device.

One thing which you should keep in mind, as a user, is that you don’t need to panic if you see this kind of warning on your device. Instead, you just need to exit the web page you were going to visit. In these cases, mostly the hackers hack into the traffic of adult websites. Once you get trapped in the same, then you are asked to enter your debit or credit card details. Make sure that you don’t enter any of the details, as they will be passed on to the scammers. On a concluding note, we will like to say that what you see on your device is your concern, not of any other person, organization, or government.
