8 months ago 49

About two weeks ago, reports about Apple’s iPhone and smartwatch chief designer Tang Tan leaving the company surfaced on the internet. Now, the latest report from Bloomberg suggests that over 20 former employees from the company have joined a firm called LoveFrom, including Tan.

LoveFrom Is Attracting Several Apple Employees After All

Apple Inc

LoveFrom is reportedly working on an AI-based project with Sam Altman’s OpenAI. Apple’s former design chief will join the company in February 2024. Interestingly, Tan will work with Apple’s former chief design officer, Jony Ive, at LoveFrom.

For those catching up, Ive was with Apple for about 27 years and contributed significantly to products like the initial iPhones, the Mac that came out in 1998, AirPods, the Apple Watch, and the company’s iconic new campus, Apple Park.

Tan And Ive To Work On An AI-Based Hardware Project

As part of the LoveFrom team, Tan and Ive will work on an AI-based hardware project, which will get software support from OpenAI. Although rumors suggest that the companies are working on an AI device, the exact nature of the device isn’t known at the moment. Several speculations indicate that the former Apple executives and Sam Altman could be working on an AI-powered smartphone.

Apple Seems To Have Trouble Retaining Employees

Meanwhile, one of Apple’s user interface designers, Patrick Coffman, has also left the company. The streak of employees leaving the world’s most valued consumer technology company seems to be never-ending. However, rumors about most of them joining LoveFrom and helping develop the speculated AI device sure raise many questions. For now, this is the extent of information we have on the matter.
