It hasn’t even been a week since the iPhone 15 hit the shelves, and the internet is already talking about the iPhone 16 series, particularly the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This time around, a report suggests that Apple will deviate from the naming convention it has been following for years, and there might not be an iPhone 16 “Pro Max” after all. Apple To Ditch The “Pro Max” Moniker

Per known tipster Majin Bu, the iPhone 16 series won’t have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Instead, the company could name the model iPhone 16 Ultra. This is not the first time we’ve heard rumors about a significant name change in the lineup. Before the iPhone 15 came out, some experts believed that Apple was about to rename the iPhone 15 Pro Max as iPhone 15 Ultra, but that did not happen this year. We should still see an iPhone 16 Pro, nonetheless.

iPhone 16 Ultra to Feature Three Smaller Cameras

Another weird yet interesting prediction from the tipster suggests that the iPhone 16 Ultra will come with three new smaller cameras, other than the three massive sensors the Pro iPhone already has. Bu says the sensors have some functionality for the upcoming mixed-reality headset, Vision Pro, but that is the extent of the information.

The tipster suggests that all iPhones in the iPhone 16 series will feature a 120Hz ProMotion display, a much-awaited update. If that happens, the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus will likely come with thinner bezels than what we’ve seen on the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. However, like the current generation of non-Pro iPhones, the iPhone 16 should also come with two cameras.

The iPhone 16 units (in the United States) will feature a button to switch to mmWave mode. To provide some context, mmWave is faster than Sub-6GHz, but it isn’t as widely available as the latter. Hence, it would make sense to have a button that switches to mmWave connectivity in available areas.
