iPhone 16 CAD-Based Render Reveals Vertical Camera Alignment, Presence Of A New Capture/Action Button

The Cupertino-based tech giant is gearing up to launch its iPhone 16 series later this year. Like every time, rumors and reports about the phones in the lineup have been circulating online for quite some time now. The latest addition to the grapevine is a CAD-based render that reveals the rear camera alignment and the presence of a new button on the right frame. Let’s take a deeper dive and infer more information from the leaked render.

Vertical Camera Module On iPhone 16 Confirmed?

Known tipster Majin Bu has shared an alleged CAD-based render of the purported iPhone 16. In the post on X (formerly known as Twitter), we can see the pill-shaped cutout on the rear panel, corroborating the previous rumors about iPhone 16’s shift from a diagonally aligned camera setup to a vertically aligned setup, similar to iPhone X but larger. Moreover, the new camera island is slimmer than the iPhone 15 but slightly longer. The flash module is situated to the right of the pill-shaped camera module.

The Render Also Reveals The Presence Of An Action/Capture Button

Besides the camera module, the presence of an additional button on the right frame (to the left in the picture) is curious. This could be the Action or Capture button that reports have been hinting at for months. However, whether the button will be touch or pressure-sensitive is unclear. For those catching up, the Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro models performs tasks like opening the camera, turning on the flashlight, opening a Shortcut, and so on. We believe that an Action button on the iPhone 16 could be a differentiating factor, especially with the baseline iPhone 15.

Other than the action button, the volume rockers and the mute switch are on the left frame (to the right in the image). The company’s branding is in its usual position on the center of the rear panel. Further, the render also reveals the presence of eight antenna bands on the phone, two on each side. Last but not least, we can also see the USB-C opening at the lower frame. However, that is how much information we can draw from the render.

iPhone 16 Series Could Consists Of Five Models

Apple’s iPhone 16 should be released in the second half of 2024. Recent reports suggest that the iPhone 16 series could consist of five different models, including the regular iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and two new additions: iPhone 16 SE and iPhone 16 Plus SE. The latter two are expected to be the long-awaited SE model upgrades that didn’t make it to the iPhone 15 or the iPhone 14 launch event.
