iPhone 14 Pro Max has hit Geekbench and the scores are slightly higher than those obtained from iPhone 13 Pro Max. Here are all the details.

iPhone 14 Pro Max has just hit the Geekbench benchmark and the scores aren't promising! Based on Apple's presentation at the iPhone 14 launch event, the A16 Bionic chip in the iPhone 14 Pro Max is supposed to come with notable performance gains, especially considering the 4nm manufacturing process. However, the Geekbench scores show that if you are rocking the iPhone 13 Pro Max, you aren't likely to lose out much in terms of raw performance.

Based on the data obtained from the Geekbench test, the iPhone 14 Pro Max tested here has managed to get a single-core score of 1,879 and a multi-core score of 4,664. The iPhone 13 Pro Max in comparison gets a single core score of 1,725 and a multi core score of 4,848. This makes the iPhone 14 Pro Max's performance almost comparable to the year-old iPhone 13 Pro Max.

iPhone 14 Pro Max not much powerful?

With slightly higher scores, it is the iPhone 14 Pro Max that currently takes the lead in terms of the higher performance benchmarks. However, this also goes on to show that the A15 Bionic chip from last year is still quite capable and can do almost everything with ease.

This confirms with the previous rumours that the 4nm platform hasn't been able to deliver any better performance over the 5nm platform. It will be the 3nm chips from next year that could show any reasonable improvement in raw performance.

Moreover, Apple showcased a performance comparison graph of the A16 Bionic with the A13 Bionic chipset, showing the obvious massive gains. However, we were not shown any comparison data with the A15 Bionic chipset. We wonder why?

Nonetheless, the A16 Bionic chipset is what Apple calls the most powerful chipset on any smartphone today and based on the excellent optimisation, we have to believe Apple for what it promises.

Meanwhile, the A15 Bionic chip on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus promise 25 percent better graphics performance. Note that this is the same chipset as the iPhone 13 Pro with the 5-core GPU. Using the old chip and the 60Hz OLED display has somehow allowed Apple to retain the same prices as the iPhone 13 launch prices from last year.
