iPhone 14 has been tipped for a price hike by various reports and leaksters. However, these reports may not be true. Here's more about it.

It has been reported for weeks that the iPhone 14 series is expected to get a price hike due to the rising cost of raw materials. The world has been suffering from a semiconductor shortage since the start of the pandemic and that has led to more demand than supply. Reports from famous Apple analysts such as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have all hinted at a steep $100 price increase for the Pro variants of the iPhone 14. However, that may not be the case.

iPhone 14 reported price hike false?

According to a recent report by yeux1122 posted on the Korean site Naver, the iPhone 14 price could go in a "completely different direction than expected.” If this report is true, then it puts a question mark on previous reports which have also tipped other features in the iPhone 14 such as the new notch design and the expected always-on display.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously confirmed the leaked price of the iPhone 14. According to them, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to be priced at $1,099, a $100 increase on the price of the iPhone 13 Pro. Similarly, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is expected to be priced at $1,199.

However, yeux1122's could also be about only the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max/Plus. Previous reports have stated that the standard models in the iPhone 14 series are not in line for a price hike. Therefore, the standard iPhone 14 could be priced at $799, similar to the iPhone 13, with the iPhone 14 Max/Plus being priced $100 more at $899.

Leaks and rumours about the iPhone 14 series are becoming frequent as the launch event nears. However, all the information released by leaks and rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt as these are still unconfirmed reports. So, we can only wait until Apple officially confirms the details, which could be at launch of the iPhone 14 series itself.
