iOS 17.1

The iPhone 15 series has been riddled with issues ever since it hit the market last month. People reported overheating issues on iPhone 15 Pros, reduced performance, and whatnot. There were reports of screen burn-in issues on the iPhone 15 series which has been reportedly fixed in the latest iOS 17.1 rollout.

For the unversed, users have been reporting iPhone 15 Pro (and Pro Max) screen burn-in issues on Apple support forums and Reddit. Users can see a white blur or ghosting of previous screens on their latest iPhone 15 devices similar to how you would see static on old TVs.

One user experienced screen burn-in issues three weeks after getting the iPhone while another blamed the last iOS 17.0.1 software update behind the issue. Another user said that he heard about screen burn-in issues but never saw one on his unit until a few days in. To reproduce this issue, he asked other users to put a dark grey image on the screen and tune it to the lowest brightness levels to notice ghosting.

Perhaps, we should get that stuff clear with the iOS 17.1 beta update. Its changelog reads that the update fixes issues that may cause display image persistence. Note that most of the issues that we came across concerning the screen burn-in are related to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max probably due to a hardware issue although the iOS 17.1 software update could potentially fix it.

iOS 17.1 update is likely to fix a privacy issue flagged by security researchers concerning the Significant Locations setting that affects the users when pairing with Apple Watch or transferring data from other wearable devices in the Apple ecosystem. Apart from that, iOS 17.1 will take issues related to the default keyboard as well.
