Apple has finally released the latest version of its OS that has been dubbed iOS 16.1 version. iOS 16 was announced at the WWDC 2022 in June this year and has received various bug fixes as updates since then, but this one counts as a major update. iOS 16.1 update takes it all a step further by introducing a suite of new features as well. Here's what's coming to your iPhone with the iOS 16.1 update.

1. Battery percentage

Although battery percentage was brought back with the iOS 16 first release, Apple only made it available to a handful of devices, starting with the iPhone 12. Now with the iOS 16.1, iPhones including iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, and the iPhone 13 Mini will get the battery percentage back. Not only this, but the percentage indicator will decrease over time depending on the usage.

2. Shared iCloud Photo Library

Sharing photos with your friends and family just became a lot easier! Apple has finally brought the shared iCloud Photo Library feature with the iOS 16.1 release, allowing up to 6 users to share one photo library.

3. Live Activities

Live Activities has been introduced to iOS which displays your current live activities such as a cab ride, a sports game or your scheduled flight and more. The feature especially well with the Dynamic Island feature.

4. Delete Wallet App

Is your iPhone cluttered with apps you cannot remove? Now Apple will allow you to remove the Wallet app from your home screen. Earlier, you could only remove the icon from your phone but now you'll be able to remove the app from your iPhone altogether.

5. Clean Energy Charging

If you've already installed the iOS 16.1 update, you must have noticed a Clean Energy Charging option in the Battery Settings. Only available in the US right now, this feature lets your iPhone detect and utilize a lower carbon emission electricity option, if available.
