Intel vPro Platform MWC 2024

At the Mobile World Congress, Intel announced the new vPro platform, a combination of technologies built into specific business-centric PCs designed to offer enhanced performance, security, and stability. The platform relies on the latest Core processors, including the latest entrant Core Ultra, and improves upon several aspects of a PC’s performance.

Intel vPro Is A Combination Of Hardware And Software Features

For instance, the Intel vPro platform harnesses all the benefits of the latest processors and platform technologies to enhance the productivity of all users. Users can expect significant gains of up to 47 percent better office application productivity over a three-year-old PC. Further, the vPro platform includes Threat Detection technology that takes advantage of the new NPU to improve the efficiency of anomaly detection and reduce power consumption. Further, a new Silicon Security Engine authenticates system firmware to help safeguard against cyber threads.

Another tool at vPro’s disposal is Device Discover, a new way for cloud-based tools to receive the information they need for the required actions. Then there’s Device Health, which helps IT organizations get a better view of fleet patching and deliver comprehensive device management. Last but not least, Intel’s Stable IT Program focuses on helping IT organizations with seamless OS transitions, ensuring Windows 10 and Windows 11 compatibility.

“The AI PC will fundamentally change the way organizations use their PCs, unleashing new experiences and levels of productivity for a global workforce,” writes Intel in its official press release. As part of the company AI PC Acceleration Program, more than 300 AI-accelerated features, purpose-built for commercial collaboration, “will be uniquely optimized to run best on Intel.”

The Platform Also Harnesses Arc Pro GPUs’

Regarding graphics performance, the new generation of built-in Arc Pro GPUs provides several features and independent software vendor certifications that are typically available with more expensive graphics cards. With the Arc Pro GPUs, users get ray tracing, AI upscaling up to 8K, AV1 image compression and streaming, and ISV-certified drivers.

“The enhanced features of Intel Core Ultra processors with available built-in Intel Arc GPUs, and Intel Core 14th Gen processors will usher in new PC experiences for enterprises, small- and medium-size businesses, the public sector including education, and the edge, ” believes Intel.

Intel’s 10A Node To Enter Production In 2027

Intel 10A processor node

In a related development, Intel’s 10A or 1nm node will enter production in 2027. Further, the company will begin manufacturing its 14A or 1.4nm node by 2026. Although the company hasn’t provided details about the 10A/1nm node, it classifies the new node as offering double-digit performance and power consumption improvement.

After the 3nm chipset developed by TSMC for Apple’s M3 processor, the 1nm node on Intel’s processor could be the next breakthrough in chip manufacturing technology. For those catching up, the node mentioned here refers to an integrated circuit manufacturing process determining the size of the transistors packed on a chip. The smaller the transistors, the higher the effective power and efficiency of a processor.
