Intel Core Ultra processor launched

During the AI Everywhere event on December 14, 2023, Intel announced the new Core Ultra series of processors for AI-PCs. These chipsets are a part of the Meteor Lake lineup built on the company’s 7nm architecture. Here’s everything one should know about the latest Intel Core Ultra processors.

Intel Core Ultra Procesors’ Features

Per the official website, Intel Core Ultra Processors are optimized for premium think and powerful laptops, featuring 3D performance, hybrid architecture, and advanced AI capabilities, with built-in Intel Arc GPU. The 3D performance is possible because integrating two core microarchitectures onto a single chip helps prioritize and distribute workloads for optimizing performance.

Another feature, the Intel Thread Director, optimizes workloads by helping the operating system scheduler intelligently distribute workloads to the optimal cores. The Intel AI Bost technology accelerates low-power AI CPU/GPU offload. Other features include Endurance Gaming Mode, Adaptive Boost Technology, Speed Shift, Dynamic Power Share, and Connectivity Performance Suite.

Intel Core Ultra 9 Is The Most Powerful Of All

The most powerful chipset of the series, Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, comes with 16 cores, has a peak frequency of 5.10 GHz, and has a 24MB Intel Smart Cache. The second most capable chipset is the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H, which comes with 16 cores, has a peak clock speed of 5.0GHz, and a 24MB Intel Smart Cache.

The Intel Core Ultra 5 135H processor has 14 cores, a maximum clock speed of 4.6 GHz, and an 18MB Intel Smart Cache. Moreover, these processors deliver improved instructions per cycle, offer twice the graphical performance with the octa-core Intel Arc GPU, and Intel’s AI Boost for handling AI workloads with 2.5 times better power efficiency.

All the Intel Core Ultra lineup processors will be available globally starting December 14, 2023. As announced by the company, the processors should power the first few AI PCs from manufacturers like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, and Samsung.

Along with the Core Ultra processors, Intel also announced the 5th Gen Intel Xeon processor family, which delivers 21 percent better performance for general tasks and 36 percent better performance per watt. These should also be available with the leading OEM computers in the first quarter of 2024.
