1 year ago 69

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the Indian Space Association (ISpA), Jitendra Singh, Union Minister for the Ministry of Science and Technology, said Indian startups will soon be able to launch space satellites and satellite constellations and experiment with their rocket technology.

Indian Space Association (ISpA) celebrated its first anniversary on Monday. While speaking at the India Space Conclave in Delhi, the Union Minister stated that startups and private players led by ISRO could revolutionize India's space technology. In addition, HAL and L&T are domestically producing five PSLVs. Also, with the help of ISRO and NSIL, OneWeb is all set to launch its satellite. Hence, integrating R&D with academia and industry has benefited the country's space sector.

The Space Sector Unlocks for the Private Players

The revolutionary decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in June 2020, opened the doors of opportunity for private companies and startups to launch their satellites in space. India had a few space startups in 2017-2018, but this out-of-the-box idea has unleashed the country's innovative potential. 102 startups in India are currently working on space debris management, nano-satellite, launch vehicle, ground systems, research, etc. Jitendra Singh said, " the strength and innovative potential of the country's young and private industrial enterprise will take the lead in the global space technology disruption in times to come.”

ISpA has played a vital role in contributing towards the Government of India's endeavour to attain a leading position in the global space sector and promoting the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' motto. Singh elaborated that ISpA has been a link between the key stakeholders, which has ushered in significant technological developments and investments in India.
