With all the tech tycoons focusing on strengthening security to save users from any data breach, Google has also taken one more step in the same direction. Recently, the Alphabet subsidiary has updated its inactive accounts policy, and it will result in the deletion of these kinds of accounts really soon.

According to the latest update, all the Google accounts that have been inactive for more than 2 years will be eradicated this year. The policy will come into action over all the Google products like Gmail, Google Drive, Google Workspace, and Google Photos. A major highlight of the same is that once the accounts have been deleted, the users will be unable to recover the data associated with that particular account.

In order to avoid this kind of incident, you need to log in to an account that has not been used for a long. If you want to save your account from the great extinction by Google, then you need to do one thing, use it once in a while. To do the same, you can send mail, upload photos or documents to Drive, save pictures on Google Photos, and a lot more. Make sure that you sign in every two years to keep your account continuously active.

One thing which you should know beforehand is that there is an exception with the Inactive Account Policy. According to that, the policy will be only applicable to personal accounts. None of the business and educational institutions-related accounts will be affected by the same. The account deletion is not going to happen in a blink without a notification. Google has said that it will be carefully related to the same. The company will send notices to the concerned accounts. Primarily, the accounts that have never been used since they were created will be deleted first.
