How to Hide Status Updates From Specific People on WhatsApp

2 years ago 76

WhatsApp is a brilliant instant messaging app available across billions of devices and the numbers are growing exponentially. It lets you chat with countless people, form group chats, share statuses via photos and videos among others, and more. One of the uncanny features it has is called “Status Updates” or say “Stories” which are Snapchat-esque ephemeral stories sections that vanish after 24 hours of posting it. Generally, these stories on other social media apps are available to contacts or known people.

But WhatsApp lets you have superior control over who can see your statuses. It could be just the contacts you have or simply a custom list or you can blacklist a few people on the platform. Here’s how you can hide your status updates on WhatsApp from specific people.

What are the Status Updates Settings available on WhatsApp?

For the uninitiated, WhatsApp currently has three settings where you can select one as per your preference.
#1: My Contacts
When you select ‘My Contacts’, it means that everyone in your contact list can watch all your status updates.

#2: My contacts except…
This particular setting lets you prohibit some of the people in your contacts list from checking out your status updates. If you select it and mention ‘Mr. X’ as the participant, Mr. X won’t be able to see any of your status updates.

#3: Only share with
This is an anti-setting for #2. Here, you can select users who cannot view any of your status updates while all other contacts can.
