How did Hero Vida V1 electric scooter compare with Ola S1 lineup?

Hero MotoCorp recently launched its first electric scooter line-up under Vida V1 banner. The company unveiled two models – Vida V1 Plus and Vida V1 Pro. The two Vida V1 electric scooters arrive at premium pricing with advanced features and design to compete with the popular Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooters. In this article, we decided to compare them with existing Ola offerings:

Hero has priced the Vida V1 Plus at Rs 1.45 lakhs while the ex-showroom (Delhi) price of the top-specced Vida V1 Pro is set at Rs 1.59 lakhs. The bookings for the Vida e-scooters start on October 10 with a pre-order amount of Rs 4,999. The company expects to deliver the Vida V1 series EV two-wheelers in mid-December 2022.

Ola S1 is retailing across the country at a price of Rs 99,999 while the top Ola S1 Pro costs Rs 1.39 lakhs. Both the electric scooters from Hero Vida and Ola are eligible for FAME and different state subsidies which brings down the price.

Battery and Charging

The Vida V1 Plus model packs a battery pack of 3.44kWh while the V1 Pro receives a 3.94kWh battery set. They have removable batteries based on lithium-ion construction. The e-scooters support fast charging with Vida infrastructure to fully refill the battery in less than 90 minutes. The EVs ship with a home charger which can charge the battery in 6 hours from 0-80%.

Ola S1 gets a 3kWh battery pack while the top Ola S1 Pro has equipped with a 4kWh efficiency battery. The standard S1 charges to 100% in 5 hours and the S1 Pro takes around 6 hours and 30 minutes to get fully refilled with a home charger.

Performance

Coming to the performance, Vida V1 Pro is claimed to offer a distance range of 165km with an acceleration from 0-40kmph in 3.2 seconds. The standard V1 Plus has a 143 km range and accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The top speed for both Vida electric scooters is 80kmph. It offers three riding modes – Eco, Ride, and Sport.

Ola S1 Pro offers a claimed range of 181km and a top speed of 116kmph accelerating from 0-40kmph in just 2.9 seconds. Ola S1 can go up to 141km on a single charge with an acceleration from 0-40kmph in 3.8 seconds achieving a top speed of 95kmph. Both the models offer Eco, Normal, and Sports drive modes while S1 Pro has an added Hyper mode.

Design and Features

Hero Vida V1 sports a wide front apron design with appealing LED front lights. It has a 7-inch touchscreen display,  26L boot space, and offers features like cruise control, keyless support, reverses mode, follows me home, and a key fob to control locking/unlocking, headlight, and boot space.

The Ola Electric scooters boast a 7-inch touchscreen display supporting GPS navigation, calling, sending messages, and letting you know different alerts. It also allows keyless entry and has a built-in speaker. The boot space is 36L.
