Hiring starts for Apple Stores in India! Launch in Mumbai and Delhi first?

1 year ago 66

Apple Stores are expected to launch in India soon as Apple begins recruitment for its physical brick and mortar stores.

India is crucial for Apple's business in the current times and it is making that obvious with the introduction of Apple Stores. Apple has been selling its products in India for a long time now, bringing its entire ecosystem of iPhones, Macs, iPads and accessories to our shores. Back in 2020, Apple announced the Apple Online Store in India to sell its products directly to customers instead of relying solely on resellers. Three years later, it is time for the brick and mortar stores to come here.

Based on a report from Financial Times, it is said that Apple is openly hiring for several positions in its upcoming Apple Stores. Several people who have been hired already have made announcements via LinkedIn, and several hiring posts are also being made. Apple is currently hiring for 12 positions, a total of which can have hundreds of job opportunities for people.

“On Friday, Apple's career page listed openings for 12 different job functions it seeks to fill in “various locations within India,”including technical specialist, business expert, senior manager, store leader and “genius”,” said the report.

Apple Store in India hirings begin

As of now, not much is known about the location and launch times of these stores. Rumours suggest the first Apple Store opening sometime in March, followed by another one in New Delhi soon after. Based on the job description, it seems that Apple will bring in its flagship stores first, and may later follow up with more scaled down versions as the business expands.

The opening of a physical store directly by Apple needed to meet a few criteria. As part of the government regulations, Apple had to make the iPhones in India and at least 30 percent of the products should be manufactured in India. The recent manufacturing expansion of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models have helped the world's largest tech brand to achieve these goals.

What remains to be seen is how Apple manages to draw the crowds with these stores. The Apple Online Store has been around since 2020 and it mostly thrives on delivering an online retail experience from Apple. On the other hand, 3rd-party retailers such as Amazon and Flipkart sell Apple products with huge discounts, which is where most buyers flock to.
