We are still a few months away from next-gen Pixel devices and today, a new Google smartphone bearing the codename Tokay has been spotted on Geekbench 5 with a processor which is seemingly the unannounced Google Tensor G4 SoC.

The latest update comes from a Geekbench v5 listing for a Google smartphone with a chipset codenamed Tokay. The phone scored 1,082 points on single-core and 3,121 points on multi-core tests. It is an octa-core chipset with a max 3.10GHz max frequency and 8GB of RAM. The chipset is reportedly the unannounced Google Tensor G4 SoC.

The chipset has a 1+3+4 cores configuration. It includes 1x 3.10GHz, 3x 2.60GHz, and 4x 1.95GHz hinting that it is a next-gen Tensor SoC and G4 to be precise given the fact Google launches new flagship phones with new chipsets. The report suggests Tensor G4 will not be based on Exynos 2400 which has a 10-cores configuration. Instead, it is a 4LPP+ node capable of improving both the efficiency and multi-core performance of the G4.

Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro bearing codenames ‘komodo’ and ‘caiman’ are slated to arrive in October this year. The phone is likely to come paired with Mali G715 GPU.

In other news, a report suggests Google could debut the Tensor G4 SoC with Pixel Fold 2 due to arrive at Google I/O 2024 in May. The original Fold arrived last year with Tensor G2 SoC which means Fold 2 could skip the G3 SoC in the process. However, it remains to be seen if this materialise.
