Google Pixel Buds Pro finally get five-band EQ through new software update

1 year ago 76

Today Google has started rolling out a new software update to its Pixel Buds Pro, and it brings with it an essential feature that should have been built-in from the beginning: a five-band customizable EQ.

There's no excuse for TWS earbuds manufacturers skimping on this, and while Google did set off on the wrong foot, we appreciate the fact that it decided to mend things with this software update.

Jam out your way.🎶

With 5-band EQ on #PixelBuds Pro, you can now customize your sound🔊 or choose between presets tuned by our audio engineers.

It's currently "slowly rolling out", and the rollout is anticipated to take about a week to reach all the devices out there in the wild. When you get it and install it, you'll be on version 3.14. To receive the update, make sure your Pixel Buds app on your phone is version 1.0.474476083 or newer.

So here's what you get - a five-band custom EQ to play with to your heart's content, but also six presets tuned by Google's audio engineers, in case you want to quickly find a good setting and not muck about with all the bands yourself.

As you'd expect, once you have configured your preferred settings in the Pixel Buds app, they will be kept on your Buds Pro no matter which device you're listening from. Additionally, the update comes with controls for left/right balance as well as "general bug fixes and improvements".
