The Google Pixel 8a is expected to arrive later this year, yet the first pictures of its retail box have surfaced online. According to a report by Android Police, the leaked images come from a Vietnam-based Facebook group. The images reveal some details about the upcoming smartphone.

First, the leaked images suggest that the Pixel 8a will come in a similar box as the Pixel 6a and the Pixel 7a. The front side of the box contains a close-up shot of the phone, with Google’s branding and the model’s name at the top. Further, the Pixel 8a on the box is in black.

The phone’s image also reveals that the A series phone will borrow most of its design elements from the flagship Pixel 8 series. For instance, the camera module curves and merges in the side frame. Further, it houses two sensors in a pill-shaped cutout and a round flash unit to the right.

The Box Contains A USB-PD Rating

The box recommends using a USB-PD power adapter with up to 27W power output. However, that does not mean the Pixel 8a will support 27W fast wired charging. The Pixel 7a supports 18W wired charging, and the 8a could feature the same.

Pixel 8a Expected Specifications And Price In India

Meanwhile, a lot of Pixel 8a specifications have already been leaked online. For instance, the phone will have more compact dimensions but house the same 6.1-inch 90Hz screen as the Pixel 7a. Under the hood, the smartphone should run on Google Tensor G3 chipset, giving it all the AI-based features that Pixel 8 has.

Going by the Google I/O 2023 schedule, the Pixel 8a should arrive sometime in May 2024. Given that the Pixel 7a is still selling in India for around Rs. 40,000, the Pixel 8a could come at a similar price point, wherein Google might have to discontinue the Pixel 7a. Or the 2023 A series handset will receive a price cut, and the new version will retain the mid-ranging price point.
