Google Pixel 8 series users reported weird bumps on their displays

Own a Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro? DisplayMate recently gave Pixel 8’s display a score of 154 making it better than Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5. Made by Samsung, the Actua displays on Pixel 8 series are great but what if you start noticing strange bumps or dents on the screen? Well, that’s what is happening to some users but Google has been proactive with such complaints providing a replacement ASAP.

Some of the Pixel 8 series users are noticing strange bumps or dents visible just under the screen glass. You cannot feel the bumps even if you use your finger to trace the protrusion but these are quite possible. It’s like once you see them, there’s no going back, you cannot unsee them.

According to the reports, some of these bumps may look like heads of screws punching upwards from the motherboard while others might see a slight protrusion. These are apparent when you hold your Pixel 8 series against light and at specific angles so it’s not like you see them whenever you are using the phone.

Hardware defects on such a premium phone are unacceptable, says a Redditor. But hey, all is not gone. Some of the users spoke to Google and Google Support and have been assured a free replacement model although there might be bumps/indents on the newer units too. One of the theories seems like it is that the internet components, especially around the screws holding various components on the motherboard, could be pressing on the screen giving that unwanted bump on the displays.

For the unversed, the Pixel 8 series is also battling other display-related issues including freezing and flickering. Do note that these types of issues aren’t common, they are happening but to a subset of units and not all.
