Google Pixel 8 Series to Keep Physical SIM Tray Amidst eSIM Speculation

Earlier this year in March, Smartprix shared the Google Pixel 8 Pro first look, confirming the presence of a SIM card slot. However, recent rumors ignited fresh speculation, suggesting that the upcoming Google Pixel 8 Line-up might abandon physical SIM cards in favor of an eSIM-only configuration.

Amidst these swirling reports, reliable sources have emerged to quell the uncertainty and assert that the demise of the SIM tray has been greatly exaggerated, as reported by 9to5Google. Contrary to recent conjecture, the Pixel 8 series is poised to retain the physical SIM card tray, dismissing any notions of a complete transition to eSIM technology. Additionally, the Pixel 8 Pro variant is expected to introduce a significant enhancement – the inclusion of Night Sight video capabilities.

The Pixel 6 paved the way for improvements in the Night Sight feature, resulting in photos of heightened quality characterized by sharper details and enhanced clarity. This advancement was underpinned by a larger rear sensor, designed to capture more light, in tandem with a novel laser autofocus system. Augmented by motion detection algorithms and the Tensor ISP, these developments collectively contributed to the progression of Night Sight capabilities.
