Google Pixel 7a appears in teardown video ahead of announcement

We’ve come to expect extensive leaks for Google phones but the latest one is arguably the most unusual of them all. YouTuber PBKreviews shared his latest teardown video which focuses on the Google Pixel 7a – a phone which is expected to be announced next week's annual Google I/O developer conference.

As is the norm with these videos, the first step is removing the SIM tray and prying off the back. The good news is that Pixel 7a can be disassembled from both the front and back meaning a screen repair won’t require a nearly complete teardown of the phone. Pixel 7a features a plastic back that looks nearly identical to the regular Pixel 7.

Moving deeper we get to see the wireless charging coil and NFC antenna. There’s a 4,300 mAh battery below them which comes with its own pull tabs for easier removal. The mainboard houses a 64MP main cam with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide module and a 13MP selfie cam on the opposite side.

The charging port is soldered to the main board. The Pixel 7a earns a 7.5/10 reparability score which trumps the reparability scores of the Pixel 7 (6/10) and Pixel 7 Pro (5.5/10).
