1 year ago 80

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will launch in India later this year, confirms a new Flipkart teaser.

A flagship Google Pixel in India! Are we dreaming? Google has been largely absent from India with regards to its smartphones but this year, things have changed. We got to see the Pixel 6A as a surprise launch in India, offering an accessible Google Pixel experience to the masses at the price of an iPhone SE 3rd Gen. Now, a Flipkart teaser banner has just announced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro coming to India. These phones are yet to be launched globally, which means they could launch simultaneously with the global release.

The Flipkart teaser is yet to reveal a launch date for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in India. However, it does give us a glimpse at the new design as well as the chipset. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will use Google's Tensor G2 chip, which succeeds the first gen Tensor chip we saw on the Google Pixel 6a. The design has evolved too, with the Pixel wearing brighter colour shades this year.

Google Pixel 7 coming to India this year

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were teased earlier this year and most of the features have rather remained a mystery. The phones seem to wear an evolutionary design of the jaw dropping looks of the Pixel 6 – the camera visor stays but with a flashy chrome accent. Hence, despite the same base design as the Pixel 6, it looks like a completely different phone. Apple could learn a few tricks from Google to do minimum redesign for its expensive flagship phones.

What remains to be seen is what kind of pricing does the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro attain in India. Pixel phones have always had comparable prices to the iPhones in respective categories. Hence, we won't be surprised to see the Pixel 7 going up against the iPhone 14, and the Pixel 7 Pro going up against the iPhone 14 Pro.

The last flagship Pixel device to launch in India was the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL – the latter having the infamous ungainly display notch and the bottom chin. Google followed it up with a Pixel 4a as an affordable offering in India but couldn't bring the Pixel 4 models. The case was same for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5a. Most of us had assumed that India was no longer a priority for Google's Pixel division.
