Gmail app for Android to get Select all option for selecting multiple emails quickly

1 year ago 53

The Gmail app for Android devices might soon receive a highly useful feature, a long-standing feature on the web version. Gmail users can currently select multiple emails on web by using the 'Select' option on the toolbar to mark emails as read, move, or delete them. Unfortunately, this option is currently absent from the Android app, requiring users to manually select multiple emails one by one. However, there is hope for change, as a 'Select all' option has been spotted in the latest beta version of the Gmail app for Android.

This ‘Select all’ option was spotted by @AssembleDebug on the Gmail app, version number 2023.08.20.561750975, reports SamMobile. This feature will likely allow users to select multiple emails at once.

According to the report, as soon as users choose one email, the new ‘Select all’ will likely show up. The application is expected to choose the first 50 emails when users click the new option. Users must scroll down to where the selection finishes and touch the ‘Select all’ button once more in order to choose additional emails. It's currently unknown why Google has limited the number of emails available with this option to just 50 emails.

Moreover, the 'Deselect all' option is expected to appear after users hit the 'Select all' button, enabling them to deselect all of the selected emails at once. There will likely be no limit on deselecting emails. No matter how many emails users have selected, they would all be deselected after selecting the 'Deselect all' option.

Last month, Google announced a native translation integration within the Gmail mobile app that enables users to seamlessly communicate in a wide range of languages. This highly requested feature helps users read and understand a conversation in any language. To translate messages on mobile, users just have to select ‘Translate’ on the dismissible banner and choose their preferred language.
