Forget iPhone 14 Pro! This iPhone sold for the price of a luxury car

If you thought the iPhone 14 Pro was too expensive for you, then you’d be shocked to know how much this iPhone sold for.

Apple iPhones have always been priced at a premium, starting at hundreds of dollars for even the cheapest variants. Apple has recently launched its iPhone 14 series which starts at $799 and goes all the way up to a hefty $1099 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, even that amount is pennies when compared to a recent auction of an unopened, original iPhone.

The original iPhone was launched with a price tag of $599 back in 2007. That was then. Now, this unopened, original iPhone just sold for more than 600 times its price in a recent auction on LCG Auctions. The iPhone sold for $39339.60 in the auction.

The item description of the listing read, “Collectors and investors would be hard pressed to find a superior example. Relevance and rarity comprise a winning formula for this red hot collectible.”

The original iPhone was launched on June 29, 2007 by Steve Jobs where the Apple co-founder famously introduced it by saying “an iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator” all rolled into one. “Who needs a stylus?” said Steve Jobs at the event. The iPhone became an instant hit by selling nearly 270,000 units in the first two days. It sold nearly 1 million units by September of 2007 and started the smartphone revolution.

The original iPhone also brought the concept of apps on your smartphone. You had a Safari browser to access the mobile internet. It lacked a lot of the modern niceties that are commonly available on current-day smartphones such as 3G, it was still a unique and genius product for its day and age.
